This Privacy Policy applies to the Exceeding Stats website, account platform, public scoreboards, team and player statistics pages, and related services collectively called the “Service.”
1. Our Role
Depending on the context, Exceeding Sports may handle personal information in different roles.
For account, website, support, security, and business-administration information, Exceeding Sports generally determines how the information is used.
For roster, schedule, game, player, and statistical information entered by a school, team, club, league, or other Organization, the Organization generally determines why the information is entered, how it is used, and whether it is published. Exceeding Sports generally processes that information to provide the Service under the Organization’s instructions.
2. Information We Collect
A. Account Information
We may collect:
- Name.
- Email address.
- Password, stored in hashed form rather than plain text.
- Organization or team affiliation.
- User role and permissions.
- Account preferences.
- Login and authentication records.
B. Organization and Sports Information
Organizations and their authorized users may enter:
- School, club, league, program, or team name.
- Team logo or branding.
- Sport, season, and division information.
- Schedules.
- Dates, times, opponents, and game locations.
- Player names.
- Graduation years.
- Jersey numbers and positions.
- Scores.
- Game events and play-by-play information.
- Team and player statistics.
- Season, career, and historical results.
- Other sports-related information selected by the Organization.
Organizations determine which eligible information they enter.
C. Public-Page Information
When an Organization enables public pages, the following types of information may be publicly displayed:
- Organization and team information.
- Schedules and results.
- Live scores and game status.
- Player names.
- Graduation years.
- Jersey numbers and positions.
- Athletic performance and statistical information.
D. Device and Usage Information
When you use the Service, we may automatically collect:
- Internet Protocol address.
- Browser type.
- Device type.
- Operating system.
- Date and time of access.
- Pages and features used.
- Referring page.
- Session and authentication information.
- Error, performance, and security logs.
- Approximate location derived from an IP address, such as city or region.
We do not collect precise device geolocation unless we provide a feature that expressly requests it and obtain any required permission.
E. Communications and Support Information
We collect information you provide when you:

F. Payment Information
If we offer paid services, our payment processor may collect payment-card and billing information. Exceeding Sports generally receives transaction details, payment status, billing contact information, and limited payment-method information rather than full payment-card numbers.
G. Information We Ask Users Not to Enter
Unless specifically requested through an approved Service field, users must not enter:

- Financial account information.
- Medical or health records.
- Disciplinary records.
- Home addresses of student-athletes.
- Personal telephone numbers of student-athletes.
- Personal email addresses of student-athletes.
- Full dates of birth.
- Precise geolocation.

- Information concerning immigration status.
- Account credentials for other services.
If we learn that prohibited information has been entered, we may delete or restrict it.
3. Sources of Information
We collect information:
- Directly from account holders.
- From Organizations and their authorized users.
- Automatically from devices and browsers.
- From service providers supporting the Service.
- From publicly available sports sources when an authorized user chooses to enter or import that information.
- From referrals or inquiries submitted through the website.
A school or sports Organization may provide information about players and other individuals who do not have their own Exceeding Stats accounts.
4. How We Use Information
We use personal information to:
- Create and manage accounts.
- Authenticate users.
- Provide the Service.
- Maintain rosters, schedules, games, scores, and statistics.
- Calculate team, game, season, career, and historical statistics.
- Display public pages selected by an Organization.
- Provide customer support.
- Communicate about accounts, security, updates, and Service changes.
- Process payments.
- Detect, prevent, and investigate fraud, abuse, and security incidents.
- Monitor performance and troubleshoot errors.
- Enforce our Terms and policies.
- Comply with legal obligations.
- Protect users, student-athletes, Organizations, and the public.
- Improve Service functionality using operational information and aggregated or appropriately de-identified information.
We do not use identifiable student information to create advertising profiles, serve targeted advertising, or market unrelated products to students.
5. Legal Bases Where Applicable
Where a law requires us to identify a legal basis, we process information based on one or more of the following:
- Performance of a contract.
- The Organization’s instructions.
- Consent.
- Compliance with law.
- Protection of vital interests.
- Our legitimate interests in operating, securing, supporting, and improving the Service, balanced against individual privacy rights.
6. How We Disclose Information
We may disclose information in the following circumstances.
A. Within an Organization
Organization administrators and authorized users may access information according to their roles and permissions.
B. Public Pages
Information is disclosed publicly when an authorized Organization user enables or maintains a public page or public feature.
C. Service Providers
We may disclose information to vendors that provide:
- Cloud hosting.
- Database services.
- Email delivery.
- Authentication.
- Security monitoring.
- Error logging.
- Customer support.
- Payment processing.
- Data backup.
- Other technical or professional services.
Service providers may use information only to perform services for us and must protect it under contractual or legal obligations.
D. Legal and Safety Disclosures
We may disclose information when reasonably necessary to:

Any successor receiving student or Organization information will remain subject to applicable contractual and legal restrictions.
F. With Permission
We may disclose information when the relevant individual or Organization directs or authorizes us to do so.
7. No Sale or Targeted Advertising
We do not sell personal information for money.
We do not sell student information.
We do not use or disclose identifiable student information for targeted or cross-context behavioral advertising.
We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of individuals under 16 for targeted advertising.
If our practices change, we will update this Privacy Policy and provide any notices and choices required by law before the change applies.
8. Cookies and Similar Technologies
We use cookies, local storage, and similar technologies that are reasonably necessary to:
- Keep users signed in.
- Maintain sessions.
- Remember preferences.
- Prevent fraud.
- Secure the Service.
- Balance traffic.
- Diagnose errors.
If we introduce nonessential analytics or advertising technologies, we will update this Privacy Policy and provide consent or opt-out controls where required.
Browser settings may allow you to block cookies, but blocking necessary cookies may prevent account or Service functionality.
9. Public Information
Information displayed on a public page can be accessed by anyone.

Exceeding Sports cannot control copies created outside the Service.
An Organization administrator may disable or modify a public page. Individuals may also submit a privacy or correction request. Removal from Exceeding Stats does not guarantee removal from third-party copies or search-engine caches.
10. Student and Minor Information
Schools and youth sports Organizations may provide limited sports-related information about minors, including player names, graduation years, schedules, game information, and statistics.
The Organization is responsible for determining whether it has legal authority to provide and publish that information.
Exceeding Sports:
- Processes student information to provide the Service.
- Does not sell student information.
- Does not use identifiable student information for targeted advertising.
- Does not knowingly use student information for unrelated commercial profiling.
- Supports Organizations in responding to verified access, correction, deletion, and publication requests.
- Limits access through Organization roles and permissions.

11. Children Under 13 and COPPA
The Service is intended for general sports users, schools, teams, coaches, administrators, statisticians, media users, parents, and fans. It is not directed to children under 13.
Children under 13 may not create accounts.
We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13 through account registration.
A school or authorized Organization may provide limited sports information concerning a child under 13. When the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act applies and a school is permitted to authorize collection on behalf of a parent, we will:
- Provide the school with notice of our collection, use, disclosure, and retention practices.
- Use the information only for the authorized school-related purpose.
- Not use the information for unrelated commercial purposes.
- Allow the school to review, correct, or request deletion of the information.
- Maintain reasonable security safeguards.
- Retain the information only as reasonably necessary for the authorized purpose.
Where parental consent is legally required and school authorization is not sufficient, the Organization must not provide the information unless appropriate parental consent has been obtained.

12. Data Retention
We retain information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy.
Our ordinary retention practices are:
- Account information: While the account is active and generally for up to 90 days after verified account deletion.
- Organization and sports information: While the Organization account is active and generally for up to 90 days after verified deletion or account closure.
- Backup copies: Up to 180 days through normal backup rotation.
- Security and access logs: Generally up to 12 months, unless needed longer to investigate an incident.
- Support communications: As reasonably necessary to address the request and maintain business records.
- Payment and transaction records: As required for tax, accounting, fraud-prevention, and legal purposes.
- Legal records: For the period required by law or reasonably necessary to establish or defend legal claims.
We may retain information longer when:
- Required by law.
- Requested by the controlling Organization.
- Needed to investigate abuse or security incidents.
- Necessary to resolve a dispute.
- Subject to a legal hold.
Information may be retained in aggregated or de-identified form when it no longer reasonably identifies an individual.
13. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards appropriate to the nature of the information.

Users and Organizations are responsible for protecting their credentials, devices, and internal access permissions.
14. Security Incidents
If we discover unauthorized access to personal information, we will:
- Investigate the incident.
- Take reasonable containment and remediation steps.
- Notify affected Organizations or individuals as required by law or contract.
- Cooperate with affected Organizations concerning legally required notices.
Organizations must promptly notify us of suspected unauthorized access involving their accounts.

15. Your Privacy Choices and Rights
Depending on your location and relationship to the Service, you may have the right to:
- Know whether we process your personal information.
- Request access to personal information.
- Request correction of inaccurate information.

- Object to or restrict certain processing.
- Withdraw consent.
- Appeal a denied privacy request.

Because schools and other Organizations control much of the sports information in the Service, we may refer a request concerning Organization Content to the relevant Organization. We will reasonably assist the Organization with verified requests.

We may need to verify your identity and authority. Authorized agents may submit requests where permitted by law, but we may require proof of authorization.
We will not discriminate against you for exercising a legally protected privacy right.

Where an applicable U.S. state privacy law applies, the categories of personal information we may collect include:
- Identifiers.
- Internet and electronic network activity.
- Account and customer records.
- Payment and transaction information.
- Approximate geolocation.
- Professional or organizational affiliation.
- Sports, roster, and performance information.
- Inferences necessary for security, permissions, or Service operation.
We collect these categories for the purposes described in Section 4 and disclose them to the recipients described in Section 6.
We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
We do not use sensitive personal information to infer characteristics about individuals.
17. International Users
The Service is operated from the United States. Information may be processed and stored in the United States and other countries where our service providers operate.
By using the Service, you understand that privacy laws in those locations may differ from the laws where you live. We will use legally required transfer safeguards where applicable.
18. Third-Party Links
The Service may contain links to websites or services we do not control. This Privacy Policy does not apply to third-party services.

We may update this Privacy Policy.
We will revise the effective date and provide reasonable notice of material changes through the Service, by email, or through an Organization administrator.
We will obtain consent where required before applying a materially different use to previously collected information.
